Dana Dobrescu – Mondelēz Romania and Marius Brînzea – Reciclad`OR will be speakers at Sustainability Updating
Dana Dobrescu, Corporate & Government Affairs Manager, Mondelēz Romania and Marius Brînzea, Strategy Director Reciclad`OR have confirmed their presence as speakers at the SUSTAINABILITY UPDATING conference, the 4th edition of the Sustainability & CSR Excellence conferences, organized by PIAȚA on 2 June on the lawn of the Caro Hotel in Bucharest.
During the SUSTAINABILITY UPDATING conference, Dana Dobrescu will address the topic of “The future of snacking from an ESG perspective”, as well as the solutions that companies have to maintain customer loyalty, while reducing the negative impact of economic activity on the environment or increasing the positive impact of economic activity on the community.
On the other hand, the transition to the circular economy will generate major challenges for society as a whole and will obviously impact the competitive positions of all industry players. For this reason, Marius Brînzea, will address “Sustainability of packaging solutions”, analysing the value chain of packaging and packaged products.
A number of questions arise:
How will the criteria and targets for packaging circularity be met?

How will we commit to the sustainability of packaging solutions?
When and how can we make this process efficient, predictable and credible?
What is the role of business constituents? What about the organisations that transfer responsibility?
Starting from the short-term outlook, marked by the growth and diversification of recycling obligations (2023 – 2025) and the complementary operation of two economic models for fulfilling recycling obligations for packaging (OIREP and SGR), the presentation of the Reciclad`OR strategy director reviews the criteria for packaging circularity and European requirements, identifies supply chain frictions and assesses a number of challenges and opportunities in developing sustainable packaging solutions.
Finally, the presentation will put forward a proposal for aligning business constituents around a workable strategy to ensure a sustainable future for packaging. It is time for pre-competitive collaboration across the value chain to identify opportunities for system improvement and understand the specific needs of collection, sorting and recycling processes. This is the only way to create the optimal conditions for transforming packaging waste into a viable and sustainable resource for a circular economy.
