Romania joins the L’Étape by Tour de France family

L’Étape by Tour de France will have, starting this year, also the L’Étape Romania edition, which will take place on August 27-28 in Bucharest. The launch event took place on 25 May at the French Embassy in the capital and marked an important moment in our sporting history, that of joining the great family of this emblematic brand as the 20th country.

L’Étape Romania by Tour de France is a competition for both experienced and amateur cyclists, with enthusiasts from all over the country and abroad expected to compete on three routes for all abilities, developed by the MPG team together with Tour de France experts. They will mark emblematic places in Bucharest, the aim of the international concept being to discover interesting destinations on two wheels, while feeling like a cyclist in the Tour de France. L’Étape România by Tour de France Village will be set up in Constituției Square, open to the public on 27 August, and on 28 August, on the day of the competition, the area will be reserved exclusively for participants in the race and the award ceremony.

Both the competitors, tourists and inhabitants of the capital will have many surprises during the competition for this unique event in our country:

The three races will be The Race of 85 km (2 x loop), The Ride of 42 km (1 x loop) and The CITY ADVENTURE of 14 km, for adults and children.
Participants will be able to discover, starting from the immediate vicinity of Constitution Square, from Bd. Unirii and reaching important arteries such as Calea Victoriei, Bulevardul Kiseleff and Bulevardul Libertății, points of attraction that exude history: Arcul de Triumf, Parliament Palace, C.E.C.
Palace, the imposing building of the Bucharest City Hall, Casa Armatei or the Romanian Athenaeum.
L’Étape România by Tour de France Village will tell the story of the legendary brand to everyone through an exhibition and numerous thematic activations. On 28 August, cyclists will become kings on two wheels for a day, experiencing the thrill of this iconic competition in the same racing conditions as the professionals, from the starting point to the finish line, competing on the three routes for the famous yellow jersey, symbol of victory, excellence, passion and determination.

The Tour de France is the most famous cycling race in the world, passionately followed every year by millions of fans around the world. The legendary sporting event began in 1903 and the concept of L’Etape by Tour de France was born in 1993 out of a natural desire to give amateur cyclists a chance to live this unique experience.

The Race Village will feature an outdoor brand museum, warm-up area, food court, mechanical assistance for cyclists, massage area, awards area with stage and many exciting activities by the event sponsors and partners.

The event is held in partnership with the Bucharest City Hall, the Department of Culture, Education, Tourism and PROEDUS. The institutional partners supporting the event are the French Embassy, the Ministry of Sport and the Romanian Cycling Federation.
