On 17 October 2026, Văcărești Natural Park hosted the first edition of NATURE TOGETHER – Family Discovery Trail. It was a day dedicated to families, curiosity and time spent in nature. Reciclad’OR stood by the event as a supporting partner.
Hundreds of Bucharest residents, children and parents alike, set out on the park’s trails. All guided tour spots were booked before the event.
What happened at Văcărești Natural Park
1. Guided tours with biologists
Biologists from the Văcărești Natural Park Administration were both guides and volunteers for the day. They talked about birds, plants and habitats and explained how each of us can help protect the park’s biodiversity.
2. Explorer Quest: passport, missions, diploma
Every child received an Explorer Passport, stamped after each completed mission. Those who made it through all the checkpoints earned an Explorer Diploma.
3. Field observations
Children watched birds through binoculars, climbed the observation tower and learned to recognise the species shown on the educational panels along the trail.
4. Explorer Basecamp
At the end of the trail, young explorers enjoyed games, creative and educational workshops, and rewards.
Why we were at Văcărești Natural Park
Văcărești Natural Park is Romania’s first urban protected natural area. It is a living ecosystem, home to hundreds of species, right in the middle of one of Bucharest’s most densely populated neighbourhoods.
For us, the connection is direct. The nature we protect tomorrow is the nature children discover today. A child who has watched a bird through binoculars at Văcărești finds it easier to understand why what we do with an empty package matters.
Recycling starts with a small gesture. Caring for the environment starts with an emotion: the moment you discover that nature is close by and worth protecting.

Our slogan is about the future. At Văcărești, the future wore rubber boots, had binoculars around its neck and an explorer passport in hand.
