Bucharest, [June 2nd, 2025] – Romania’s most anticipated cycling event returns on August 31st, right in the heart of Bucharest! Now in its fourth edition, L’Étape Romania by Tour de France presented by Decathlon once again brings the legendary Tour de France atmosphere to Constitution Square. Registrations are officially open at: https://romania.letapeseries.com/registration.

Open to both participants and the general public, the Race Village will offer family-friendly activities for all ages. Entry is free for individuals with disabilities, and children benefit from a 15% registration discount.

The Tour de France is more than a race—it’s a global phenomenon that captivates over two billion fans worldwide. First launched in 1903, it inspired the creation of L’Étape Series by Tour de France in 1993, offering amateur cyclists a chance to experience the magic of the world’s most prestigious cycling event. Romania joined the international series in 2022 as the 20th country in the official global calendar.

Three Races, All Levels: From Age 7 to Elite Cyclists

L’Étape Romania by Tour de France presented by Decathlon is the only event in Romania that delivers the thrill of a world-class race for all cycling enthusiasts—from families with children aged 7+ to seasoned competitors. The race welcomes MTB riders and includes a dedicated leaderboard for performance cyclists.

The three routes within the event are tailored to different age groups and experience levels:

  • City Adventure – 14 km: Open to participants aged 7 and up;
  • The Ride – 42 km: Open to participants aged 15+;
  • The Race – 85 km: For cyclists aged 15+ seeking a genuine sporting challenge.

Early Bird pricing is available until June 30: 190 RON for City Adventure (14 km), 215 RON for The Ride (42 km), and 225 RON for The Race (85 km).

A Start Line in the Heart of the City, on Iconic Boulevards

The race kicks off from Constitution Square, taking cyclists on a scenic route through Bucharest’s most iconic streets—Calea Victoriei, Kiseleff Boulevard, and Liberty Boulevard—and past historic landmarks such as the Arch of Triumph, the Palace of Parliament, the C.E.C. Palace, City Hall, Casa Armatei, and the Romanian Athenaeum.

“For the fourth consecutive year, at the end of August, Bucharest becomes the capital of Romanian cycling. Constitution Square will once again be the stage for joy, passion, and unique two-wheeled experiences, set in a vibrant festival atmosphere featuring spectacular routes, a commercial area, food and relaxation zones, attractions for children, great music, numerous prizes, and surprises.
We thank all the authorities and sponsors who support us in bringing this unique project to life in Romania,”
said Tudor Ștefan Mocuța, CEO of MPG Romania, the event organizer.

Everything You Need, Pre- and Post-Race, at the Race Village

Located in Constitution Square, the Race Village will celebrate the iconic Tour de France spirit through immersive experiences and sponsor activations. Attendees can explore a sport-focused expo, top nutrition and gear brands, a food court, warm-up and massage zones for cyclists, and on-site mechanical assistance. A grand awards stage and contests hosted by sponsors will round out the festival experience.

“We are thrilled to return to Romania for the fourth edition of L’Étape by Tour de France. This event has grown alongside a passionate community of amateur cyclists. Bucharest offers a unique backdrop—an energetic mix of history and momentum. With increasing participation each year, Romania is becoming a key destination on the global amateur cycling map,” said Antoine Quiers, Project Manager of L’Étape Series by Tour de France – AMAURY SPORT ORGANISATION (A.S.O.).

International Challenge: Ride to Qualify for L’Étape du Tour in France
