PIAŢA Awards: Three Trophies for the Best Development Initiatives by Retailers
Starting with this year’s edition, the PIAŢA Awards include a competition section reserved for the best development initiatives by retailers, replacing the former section dedicated to the best development strategies by retailers
The change brings more dynamism and accessibility to the competition. Supplier representatives—heads of sales departments from the top 100 consumer goods manufacturing and distribution companies—are invited to vote on the most effective actions or programs by retail operators, including e-commerce operators, that began between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024. These initiatives should be aimed at business development, such as network expansion, modernization of work points, development of service offerings, solutions for increasing customer traffic, and revenue per point of sale.
The last decade has seen a consolidation in the food retail sector, and along with this process, development strategies have become much clearer and more predictable for all relevant operators, both local and international. However, within these multi-year strategies, various actions aimed at retail business development have emerged, often difficult to categorize. The dynamism, ingenuity, and efficiency of these actions characterize both the efforts of large retail operators and those of networks with limited or significantly reduced resources.
Thus, the PIAŢA Awards create a broader framework for appreciating, through the suppliers’ vote, a multitude of valuable initiatives, distinguished by their concept and execution, all contributing to the positive evolution of the daily goods trade, benefiting not only the buyers but also the product and service suppliers, and not just the retail operators.
The 2024 edition of the PIAŢA Awards, the 19th edition, began on July 15 with the application submission stage, which will end at the close of September 8. Until then, applications for the 13 competition sections, including Best Retail Development Initiative, can be submitted on the competition website using the forms available on the APPLICATIONS page. On the same page of the new website premiilepiata.ro, the already submitted applications can be viewed.
The applications that win through the cross-voting method—retailers vote for suppliers’ applications, and suppliers vote for retailers’ applications—will receive their trophies at the PIAŢA Awards Gala 2024, on the evening of November 20. The PIAŢA Awards 2024 and its Gala are organized by PIAŢA in collaboration with its partners.
