A brand is all the stronger from the perspective of Romanian identity if it manages to maintain its position at the top, regardless of the socio-economic fluctuations of recent years.
For 16 years, the journalists from Biz together with Unlock Research have analyzed the brands on the local market and, every autumn, they launch the ranking of the strongest Romanian brands.
BrandRO has become a benchmark for all companies that operate nationally as well as abroad. In addition to carefully mapping the local market, the study that delivers the ranking of the top 50 strongest Romanian brands also allows the identification of rising brands and trends for product and service categories.
Before presenting the BrandRO 2025 ranking and the awards gala, Biz organized a conference with valuable insights about brand building offered by Gabriela Nistor, CEO Salt Bank, Valentina Vesler, Communication and PR Director Valvis Holding, Edmond Niculușcă, Founder ARCEN & Co-founder La Mița Biciclista Creative Establishment, Octavian Sapovalov, Founder The Hat Butcher, Ioana Voloacă, President of ESHTE Foundation, and Emil Pantelimon, Manager of the National Chamber Choir “Madrigal-Marin Constantin.”
“Every year, through BrandRO, Biz offers a complete picture of businesses that not only show they can withstand increasingly intense competition and constant challenges but also demonstrate the capacity to continuously innovate and remain relevant to new generations of consumers,” says Marta Ușurelu, Owner Biz.
The first place in the BrandRO 2025 ranking is, for the first time, occupied by AQUA Carpatica, the strongest Romanian brand this year. The trophy was awarded by Marta Ușurelu, Owner Biz, and handed to Valentina Vesler, Communication and PR Director Valvis Holding.

BrandRO 2025 Methodology
The BrandRO study measures the strength of Romanian brands from the perspective of the investment of trust and affection granted by consumers, without considering financial and commercial indicators. The study is based on 600 online interviews and is representative at the urban level, by region, degree of urbanization, gender, and age of the population between 18 and 55 years old. The performance of Romanian brands is measured based on three indicators: brand importance, usage level, and awareness. The importance of a brand for the consumer was measured using the MaxDiff (Maximum Differentiation Scaling) methodology, and all analyses were carried out at the category level, with a total of 10 product categories. Respondents made choices between sets of brands, selecting the most and least important brand for them. They made multiple choices among unique brand combinations. Based on these choices, a preference index was calculated for each brand, which was then analyzed together with the importance index of each category, resulting in the final ranking. A brand is all the stronger from the perspective of Romanian identity if it manages to maintain its position at the top, regardless of the socio-economic fluctuations of recent years.
