Round table “Sustainable business models”, Tuesday, April 16, 2024, 10:30 a.m., Crowne Plaza Bucharest, Sala Primavera

Concept

Sustainability reporting is the public disclosure that a company makes to communicate environmental, social and governance performance and information (ESG -environment, social, governance) including the assumed objectives and the progress achieved in achieving them. The right approach to non-financial performance reporting is crucial, and responsible investments that take into account the impact of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors are key concepts of a business strategy based on sustainable principles.

As of January 1, 2024, all public interest companies with more than 500 employees fall under the European CSRD – Corporate Social Responsibility Directive, which introduces more detailed and specific reporting requirements regarding the impact of businesses on the environment, society and the economy. Companies will be required to publish more information related to sustainability where they will include data from 3 major directions: environmental factors, social factors and governance factors. Furthermore, there should be a connection between this sustainability report and the financial report. In Romania, it is expected that this European Directive will influence over 6000 companies.

On the other hand, in a recent study by the IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV), 51% of selected respondents from 10 major world economies said that sustainability is more important to them today than it was 12 months ago. And the Global Sustainability Study 2021 concluded that more than a third of the population is willing to pay more for sustainable products or services, but also that, globally, sustainability is considered a purchasing criterion
important for 60% of consumers.

In this context, Capital and InfoFinanciar organize the round table “Sustainable business models”, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, starting at 10.30 am.

The event brings together representatives of public institutions and private companies to analyze the importance of ESG reporting and the advantages of a sustainable business approach.
