Leadership, Education, and Responsibility in a Transforming Economy

On May 14, at the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași, Reciclad’OR was invited to open an essential conversation about the future of technical education in Romania. As part of the “3 o’clock coffee – Ambassador TEACH4SD” conference — an event dedicated to integrating sustainability into vocational, technical, higher, and secondary education, with business sector involvement — Denise Deleanu, COO of Reciclad’OR, delivered the presentation “Circular Economy in Construction: Future Perspectives“, a talk that highlighted the critical role of universities in the transition toward a genuine circular economy.

The event brought together university faculty, academic leaders, and business representatives for a dialogue about responsibility, adaptation, and collaboration.

Education – The First Link in the Circular Economy

Denise’s speech started from a simple yet powerful reality:

today’s graduates will work in an economy completely different from the one they were trained for.

It was not a critical message, but a deeply constructive one.

“The world has moved faster than curriculum revision cycles” — she said, emphasizing the need to bring sustainability out of the conceptual zone and into the realm of real competencies.

For Reciclad’OR, education is not just a related field — it is where change begins.

That is where the professionals are trained who will design, build, and manage resources in an economy where circularity becomes the norm.

Industry and Universities – Partners in Shaping the Future

With consolidated experience in managing extended producer responsibility and a portfolio of over 1,300 partner companies, Reciclad’OR lives the reality of economic and legislative transformation every day.

This industry perspective becomes a valuable tool for the academic environment.

Denise Deleanu proposed a direct and practical partnership:

  • co-creation of educational modules on applied sustainability in construction
  • integration of real case studies into teaching activities
  • collaborations for internships, theses, and projects oriented toward circularity
  • access to current industry data, practices, and regulations

CSR in Education – From Principle to Action

The Iași conference demonstrated that corporate social responsibility does not just mean one-off projects, but strategic investments in Romania’s intellectual capital.

For Reciclad’OR, education is a pillar of its CSR mission: to contribute to training a generation of professionals capable of meeting the challenges of the green economy.

Through involvement in events such as “3 o’clock coffee – Ambassador TEACH4SD”, Reciclad’OR assumes the role of industry voice — an actor that brings the real perspective of the market and European regulations into universities.

“I’m not asking you to change everything tomorrow. I’m asking for a conversation.”

This phrase, spoken by Denise Deleanu, became the essence of the meeting.

A call for collaboration, openness, and the courage to adapt education before the market forces it.

The tone was collegial, respectful, and firm — a dialogue between equals, between professionals who share the same responsibility: training a generation ready for the future.

Reciclad’OR – The Leader Transforming Sustainability into Education

Through this intervention, Reciclad’OR reaffirms its commitment to transforming sustainability from concept into competency, from theory into practice, from CSR into education.

Universities are strategic partners in this mission, and the industry is ready to contribute with expertise, data, and direction.

Education for sustainability is where the circular economy begins.

And Reciclad’OR is the voice that makes it heard.
