Record at the Third Edition of L’Étape Romania by Tour de France
2,500 Participants Experienced the Magic of the Largest Cycling Festival in Romania

– On September 1, the legendary competition L’Étape Romania by Tour de France set a new record for participants, reaffirming itself as the largest road cycling event in Romania, a true festival held in an atmosphere filled with joy, emotion, and competitive spirit.

– 2,500 amateur and professional cyclists participated in the competition and competed on three routes, one of which was dedicated to children over 8 years old.

– The festival atmosphere was thanks to the event’s sponsors, present in the Race Village located in Piața Constituției, who surprised both cyclists and visitors with storytelling activations, competitions with prizes, and personalized gifts, thus contributing to a memorable experience for all those present in the Race Village.

– Thousands of people cheered on the cyclists along the routes, creating a festive atmosphere.

Bucharest, September 3, 2024: The third edition of L’Étape Romania by Tour de France gathered around 2,500 cyclists, thousands of visitors in Piața Constituției, and spectators along the event’s routes. All of them experienced the top-notch offering from the Tour de France brand and the atmosphere of a cycling festival.

L’Étape by Tour de France is a competition intended for amateurs and experienced cyclists, from the country or abroad, who want to ride road or mountain bikes.

The event featured three races suitable for all skill levels: City Adventure – 14 km, where children over 8 years old could register, The Ride – 42 km, and The Race – 85 km. Out of the approximately 2,500 competitors who started on Sunday, 600 were registered for the 14 km race, while the other two more competitive races, The Ride of 42 km and The Race of 85 km, challenged over 1,900 cyclists to line up and ride through the traffic-free streets of Bucharest.

Winners, Notable Numbers, Tradition & Legend:

– L’Étape Romania attracted cyclists from 20 countries this year, with the largest number coming from Bulgaria.

– Over 350 children and teenagers participated in the competition, and the oldest participant was 79 years old.

– In the Race Village, with the help of A.S.O., the international organizers of the event, the Tour de France Museum was set up. Attendees could discover projections dedicated to the history of the Tour de France and top cyclists, as well as symbolic exhibits that make the Tour de France so special.

– The famous yellow jersey, a symbol of victory, excellence, and determination, was awarded to the first amateur cyclists to finish in the men’s and women’s categories in The Race of 85 km and The Ride of 42 km, according to L’Étape tradition. This year, it was won by Iryna Vasylieva and Emanuele Scipione on the 85 km route, while Brigitte Belu and Matei Paris were champions on the 42 km route.

– The green jersey, a mark of audacity, speed, and explosiveness, was awarded to the amateur cyclists with the best time in the men’s and women’s categories on the SPRINT section (300m). They were Camelias Vele (23.2 seconds) and Kostadin Kostadinov (22 seconds) on the 85 km route, and Antonia Orzan (24 seconds) and Matei Cucu (23 seconds) on the 42 km route.

– The white jersey went to the fastest young cyclists under 25 years old, in the men’s and women’s categories for The Race 85 km and The Ride 42 km. The winners of the white jersey were Andreea Manarca and Matei Teodorescu on the 85 km route, and Brigitte Belu and Matei Paris on the 42 km route.

– The winners of invitations to L’Étape du Tour 2025 are: Iryna Vasylieva, Teodora Savic Popovic, Cecilia Dalvaru, Emanuele Scipione, Matei Teodorescu, Petrișor Rădoi.

– Under the motto Recycling Tour – CHANGE THROUGH RECYCLING, Reciclad’OR and Remat Holding provided competitors and spectators with innovative ways to separate recyclable waste and initiated recycling through the show of Bălașa PercuSSion Group.

– L’Étape Romania, although only in its third edition, is already one of the largest races in the L’Étape Series.
