West Side Kids Bike Parade, June 1, 2024

On June 1, the center of fun is in the western district! On Splaiul Independenței, we replace cars with bicycles at the West Side Kids Bike Parade. With family and friends in the group, we pedal, have fun, and recycle in the western district, from Ciurel Bridge to Sema Parc. The 9th edition of the Kids Bike Parade is an event organized by Go4fun, Road Grand Tour, and the Sector 6 City Hall, with the support of Reciclad’OR.
We celebrate in one day what others do in three:
– International Children’s Day (June 1)
– World Bicycle Day (June 3)
– World Environment Day (June 5)
and we invite you to a healthy lifestyle through sports, recycling, and environmental protection.
The event is dedicated to all children who love bicycles and the sense of freedom they provide. Entry is free.
**Where?** On Splaiul Independenței 319 near Sema Parc – SEK Bucharest International School – Petrache Poenaru metro station.
**When?** June 1, from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
The Kids Bike Parade aims to promote safe cycling among children from a very young age and to teach the youngest cyclists the rules to be followed when riding on two wheels, both individually and in groups, in a safe, relaxed, and joyful environment – free from any road traffic.
This year too, the Kids Bike Parade takes place in the western district! On big or small bikes, with or without pedals, with or without training wheels, we pedal and recycle at the Kids Bike Parade and the West Side Kids Race, a competition that aims to offer children a beautiful cycling competition experience on routes adapted and dedicated to their age group.
From the youngest to the oldest, from toddlers to 14-year-olds, we invite all children to pedal, spend quality time, recycle, and compete safely, enjoying the surprises prepared by the organizers.
9:30 AM – 12:30 PM – West Side Kids Bike Parade – activities & participation kits distribution
In the first part of the day, children are invited by Go4Fun & Road Grand Tour KIDS to pick up their participation kit from SEK Bucharest International School and then go through the trials and games specially prepared for them on the roadway of Splaiul Independenței, in any order they wish, as many times as they want, without it being a competition, just a relaxed bike ride with cyclist friends.
There will be skill tests adapted to each age category:
– Group rides following the rules of group cycling;
– Pedaling through cones following traffic signs;
– Skill contests, road safety workshops, and cycling demonstrations;
– Creative recycling games organized by Reciclad’OR & Remat Holding;
**SPECIAL GUEST:** Trial Show Orban Gabi – 3x Guiness World Record – a world-renowned athlete with a bicycle stunt show.
As every year, at noon, at 12:00 PM, for 30 minutes, we all pedal in the Kids Bike Parade and then get ready for the competition.
**1:00 PM – 5:30 PM – West Side Kids Race**
Road GRAND Tour KIDS & Go4Fun organize 11 cycling races for 6 age categories between 2 and 14 years, on routes adapted to each category, following the regulations of the Romanian Cycling Federation.

**Schedule:**
– 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Bicycle games, road safety, creative recycling, recycling track.
– 10:30 AM: Trial Show Orban Gabi – 3x Guinness World Record – a world-renowned athlete with a bicycle stunt show.
– 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: Kids Bike Parade.
– 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM: Children’s Races (ages 2-14).
**Approximate Age Group and Schedule:**
– 1:00 PM: Start Group A (13-14 years) girls;
– 1:30 PM: Start Group A (13-14 years) boys;
– 2:00 PM: Start Group B (11-12 years) girls;
– 2:20 PM: Start Group B (11-12 years) boys;
– 2:40 PM: Start Group C (9-10 years) girls;
– 3:20 PM: Start Group C (9-10 years) boys;
– 3:40 PM: Start Group D (7-8 years) girls;
– 4:00 PM: Start Group D (7-8 years) boys;
– 4:20 PM: Start Group D (5-6 years) girls;
– 4:40 PM: Start Group D (5-6 years) boys;
– 5:00 PM: Start Pișpirica Category (< 5 years) boys and girls.
**5:30 PM – 6:30 PM: Awards Ceremony.**
We invite you to join us in this two-wheel adventure together with the 2,000 children and adults expected at the event. We recommend using public transportation as much as possible for access. On Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, access to the metro with bicycles is allowed throughout the day.
