Jysk – replacing plastic packaging with paper packaging
Jysk has replaced the plastic packaging used for packaging bed linen with packaging made of paper.
This practice is specific to circular sourcing models that aim to replace traditional materials with renewable materials with the long-term goal of reducing the extraction of virgin resources.
Features:
- Resources used: Packaging made from a sustainable source – FSC certified paper;
- Prevention: reducing the amount of plastic waste generated – the equivalent of 27 million plastic bags;
- Minimisation: The use of a single type of packaging (paper) significantly facilitates the separate collection of packaging waste for consumers;
- Recycling: The material used (paper) is easy to recycle and closed loop recycling can be achieved;
- Economic benefits: reduction of packaging costs per unit of product / overall reduction of packaging and packaging waste management costs.
