L’Étape România by Tour de France:

RECYCLING TOUR – POLLUTION-FREE RACE

Starting this year, Bucharest will be on the world cycling map with the organisation of the first edition of L’Étape Romania by Tour de France, which will tell the whole world the story of Little Paris by bike. The event is organised by MPG Romania in partnership with the Bucharest City Hall, the Department of Culture, Education and Tourism and the Bucharest Centre for Educational and Sports Projects PROEDUS, and Reciclad’OR, together with Rematholding Co, will provide the green component of the great event, already present in over 20 countries.

L’Étape România by Tour de France – 100% green

Organized for the first time in Romania, L’Étape by Tour de France is a 100% green event. Strategic partners Reciclad’OR and Rematholding Co will provide the green component of the event which is the world leader in mass participation cycling events, offering amateur cyclists the opportunity to race or ride a Tour de France route right at home.

Under the motto “REcycling – the POLLUTION-FREE RACE”, Reciclad’OR and Rematholding Co will offer competitors and spectators throughout the event the opportunity to collect separately recyclable waste in specially prepared systems, as well as the opportunity to participate in the activities carried out during the event, which aim to reuse recyclable waste. Given the current context, where climate change is affecting the whole of Europe in various forms, we attach great importance to reducing pollution by using environmentally friendly alternative methods to reduce CO2 emissions.

First edition of L’Étape Romania by Tour de France

On August 28th, the first edition of L’Étape Romania by Tour de France will take place in Bucharest. The vision behind this international event is to discover exciting destinations on two wheels while feeling like a cyclist in the Tour de France. Unlike the classic Tour de France, L’Étape is aimed at both experienced cyclists and amateurs from home and abroad who want to cycle and own either a mountain bike or a road bike.

The organizers of L’Étape Romania by Tour de France, MPG Romania, have prepared three routes for the competitors that will pass through the emblematic points of Bucharest and will challenge amateur cyclists, not only those of performance, to live a legendary experience:

  • The CITY ADVENTURE race is 14 km long and is aimed at all amateurs, as well as children over 10 who choose this historic challenge. Participants will start in front of the Parliament Palace and will pass by city landmarks such as the National Museum of Romanian History, CEC Palace, Bucharest City Hall, Royal Palace.
  • The second largest route is THE RIDE, 42 km long and consisting of a single loop, starting in the immediate vicinity of the Palace of Parliament. The route passes through important points and emblematic places in the capital, such as Bd. Unirii, National Arena, National Museum of Romanian History, CEC Palace, Bucharest City Hall, Royal Palace, Romanian Athenaeum, Victoria Palace, Triumphal Arch, National Museum of Natural History “Grigore Antipa”.
  • The longest route is THE RACE, which is 85 km long and consists of 2 loops THE RIDE.

Supporters, tourists and enthusiasts of this sport will enjoy the atmosphere of the famous competition in Constitution Square, where the Race Village will be set up, including an open-air museum of this brand, warm-up area, food court, mechanical assistance for cyclists, massage area, awards area with stage and many interesting activities by sponsors and partners of the event.
